Chicago Penthouse
Re-boot
The client loved their own furniture and wanted to keep much of it. Some pieces had been in the family for generations. So, we moved things around to make the space more workable, added some new key pieces of furniture as well as some new objects and created a more contemporary environment that reflects their history as well as the way they want to live now. When we use people’s own objects, furniture or nick nacks from travel or family history, it makes the space feel very personal and warm. It is the rare client that chooses to go this way but we always enjoy the opportunity to work with existing elements when they do. The client wanted their home to feel like “a loft in the sky” while also maintaining some sort of elegance. We achieved this by using rustic woods mixed with some more elegant materials. Brass, leather and lush fabrics combined with contemporary lighting fixtures captures this effect. We used a palette of black, green, golds and neutrals.
